Invisalign Treatment Guidelines For You
Getting Started with Invisalign
Once you’ve decided you’re ready to take charge of your smile, you’ll come into Roeder Orthodontics and we will take x-rays, pictures and take a digital scan of your teeth. Roeder Orthodontics believes in using advanced technology, and we use the iTero Advanced Scanner to take digital images of your teeth. This techniques makes for a more accurate and comfortable experience and saves you from having to take gooey impressions. We’ll use your pictures and iTero scans to create a digital 3-D image. Dr. Jeffrey Roeder will map out a precise treatment plan, forecasting the exact movements of your teeth. Using this same technology, we will even be able to show you a virtual representation of how your teeth will move with each stage of treatment.
Getting Your Personal, Custom Aligners
Based on your individual treatment plan, a series of custom-made, clear aligners are then created specifically for you. These aligners are made of a smooth, comfortable BPA-free plastic that won’t cause mouth irritation. Simply wear the orthodontic aligners throughout the day and night, removing them to eat, brush or floss your teeth. As you wear and switch out each set of aligners weekly, your teeth will gently and gradually begin to shift into alignment.
A Streamlined Orthodontic Process
Every week you will begin wearing a new set of aligners, advancing you to the next stage of your treatment. Invisalign aligners have a discrete wear “indicator” to let you know when it is time to wear the next set of aligners. Dr. Roeder will advise you about the best course of action. To monitor your progress, you will also have occasional checkups every 8 weeks with Roeder Orthodontics. You’ll get new sets of aligners at your appointment. At every stage of the straightening process, our team will review how you are feeling and note the progress you’ve made. You will be able to see first hand how your smile is transforming, and feel the difference in the health of your smile.
How Long Will Treatment Last?
While every case is unique to each patient, treatment typically takes approximately 1 year to 18 months for adults treatment. For teens, the length of treatment is comparable to that of traditional braces, but since your teeth won’t be covered by wires and brackets, you’ll be able to see improvement much sooner. For teens using Invisalign, the average treatment time is 18 months. For best results and a timely outcome, you should wear your aligners for 20 to 22 hours per day, throughout your entire course of treatment.
